The Rules

The Great Lake Vernon Paddle Quest (GLVPQ)
There is a beautiful Badger® Canoe Paddle that can be won by finding a password hidden around Lake Vernon. The clue to the specific location is here on the Lake Vernon Website and Facebook page. Once you find the password (don’t tell anyone!!) contact us- lva@lake-vernon.ca and we will enter your name into the draw.
Thank you to the kind folks at Badger Paddles for sharing their awesome contest idea with us and their support with the wonderful prizes.
ABOUT the Contest
There are countless benefits to active water transportation such as, health and wellness, environmental conservation, and peace and tranquility. The members of the Lake Vernon Association value these outcomes from activities like, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddleboating, stand-up paddleboarding, and rowing.
To promote the paddling culture on Lake Vernon, the Association’s Environment Committee adapted a great contest idea from PaddleInThePark created by Badger® Paddles and Portageur.ca. Their contest was conceived as a way to encourage people to “get out there” into nature via Ontario’s provincial parks. (Link to their website http://www.badgerpaddles.com/paddles/Welcome.html to see their contest and the many benefits to reconnecting with nature).
The Lake Vernon Association has organized a similar contest offering paddlers a chance to win a beautiful handcrafted (Badger®) canoe paddle! Clues (available on the Lake Vernon Association Website and Facebook page) will guide prospective paddlers to the secret password hidden somewhere on Lake Vernon.
With the purpose to encourage more people to self-propel, paddlers who find the secret password FROM THEIR NON-MOTORIZED VESSEL, are eligible to enter the
draw. After you find the password, contact lva@lake-vernon.ca and if you can, send us a selfie and a good story to share about how far you paddled, what you saw
along the way etc.) and we will compile a list of password finders. On Saturday August 27, a name will be drawn randomly from that list and declared the winner!

How to Enter the Draw
Step 1. Visit the LVA website or Facebook page to ensure you understand all the
contest rules.
Step 2. Look on the website for clues that will help you find the secret password.

Step 3. Paddle and have some fun while you look for the password under the PURPLE duck.
Step 4. Find a secret password located underneath a male Mallard (Drake) decoy floating in various locations around the lake. In general, there is one Mallard in the North end, one in the middle, and one in the East end of Lake Vernon.
Step 4. Leave the duck where it is and contact us at lva@lake-vernon.ca to tell us your name, contact information and what the secret password is.
